The 3rd Iberian Mask Parade on May, 3 at Praça D. Pedro IV (Rossio) in Lisbon. More than 500 participants from Portugal and Spain recreated ancient rituals associated with masks, rarely seen outside their original context.

@ManuelaR: I felt the same. These masks are elements of a cultural project from a specific place. The reason for the existence of these characters are the carnival demonstrations. So, it seems that Venice, North of Spain and Northeast of Portugal have much in common. Thanks for your comment, Manuela.
Também andei no Rossio a fotografar.Fiz dezenas de fotos mas não apanhei esta máscara! Boa foto! Que tal os jacarandás????

@QUIM: Eu dei com eles por acaso...Foi complicado porque a concorrência da máquina fotográfica era muita e os mascarados não paravam quietos. :))) Os jacarandás e os candeeiros do Rossio revelaram-me que comentei uma foto sua que deve ter sido tirada ali mesmo, certo? :)
Beautiful shot. Red is a very difficult colour to capture and you did it so well here!
